Hello again.. sorry this might be long, I will tell you when i bought my 1990 TT straman in 2002, it was a one owner, CARFAX certified for accidents/salvage etc. I got it for $15.500 with 48K miles. (believe it or not it was an Ebay Auction and i never drove the car before traveling to Utah to buy it). ( i have been called crazy before). This is my own opinion: You can't compare a 1993 nissan vert value on a 1990 straman value. 3 years and lots of miles may offset either value. I would use a clean good 1990 TT value of 7K? or Pick what you think a TT coupe value would be, then add a premiun of 2k = $9K so.. an ok straman with 120K with clean interior no accidents and a good working electrical top could be worth $10K. If the miles are lower..(50K to 75K) you can expect an extra 2K maybe. I would say that 8K to 10K would be fair, althought you have not share pictures or what they are asking for in the forum. 15K or 17K as suggested would very high and you need somebody as crazy as me (ahem...you know who you are) and will have no dings, new paint, stage 3, Pristine interior, brakes upgrades? What else has the owner done that you want and its a value added mod? Again, i am a certifieable Z car crazy guy who wanted a convertible TT straman so i paid. When i bid on ebay on mine, i bid up to $16,500 for it glad I got it at 15.5K in 2002. I remember looking at a TT coupe prices localy, and found a TT with 75K for 12K at the dealers, so in 2002 i paid a 3K premium for a very low millage one. My advised is to stop asking, and do some soul searching on our own. Drive it, compared to what you have, does the engine feel the same, smoother, stronger, worst, no smoke etc. Does the frame seem good, doesn't pull to sides, carfax it, find out how long the owner has had it, 60K done? 120K done? oil changes, which shop did the maintenance? any records?, Drive it up to a steep drive way while at a 45 degree and listen for the frame twitching and making noises, while one wheel is on the street and another one in the driveway etc. Oh i forgot one thing, drive it with the top up, and make sure the latches and mechanism doesn't bother you while you drive. Some taller drivers express concern that the latches were too close to their heads. Also look for air sippage(spell?) or leaks at top of windshield and by the windows, as this tells you the condition of the top (tension of the top). I am not tall so the latches was not a problem for me. Drive it with the top down at 75MPH and make sure it stills feels good, it should not have vibrations, strange wind noises, etc. One more thing you need to pay attention is the steering, in the straman, having HICAS and the power steering assist is less, making it feel better than the nissan vert cushy i can move it with one finger approach. ( i may get flamed for this comment, just my opinion). You seem to want one, so stop looking for excuses....;), if not post up the info so somebody else can get it. As i refered in my last post, i wish i had both. I opted to sell my Stage 3 1990 TT Straman, and got a 93 convertible with bigger turbos, Greddy intercoolers, big break brembos, 555 injectors, ECU programmed, Dual POP intake, Adjustable suspension. I wanted something faster, without the worries of doing all that to the straman, mostly because its a beauty and you tend to not mess with it. And after i drove the nissan vert with the mods, i was sold. hello going faster bug.. good bye old friend straman stage 3. Crazy to sell the Straman?... it depends on what you want to drive and what you expect to do with the car. (i expected to be happy with TT coupe, then i had to go with Straman, then the Straman went stage 3, then...I wanted more..) You seem to already have a nissan vert TT swap, per your profile, however you seem to have a bug to get a straman. Will you get the straman because you want the "rock star" parking? Because it handles better, or better engine feel of what you have? If this will be an addition to your modded nissan vert, then get it so you can display it in your collection ;) Good Luck, let us know when when you get it.
